About The Position

ATI transforms metal into mission-critical components that power aerospace, defense, energy, and medical innovation. As a Process Engineering Intern focused on Melt Process Engineering, you'll support the formulating, primary melting, and final melting of titanium, nickel, and specialty alloys—playing a direct role in how high-value materials are produced for high-performance products. You'll collaborate with experienced engineers and operators to improve throughput, reduce defects, and drive process efficiency on assets such as plasma cold hearth furnaces, vacuum arc remelt furnaces, and raw material control systems.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a BS. degree in: Metallurgical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science & Engineering, or Other related Engineering disciplines
  • Strong academic standing

Nice To Haves

  • Strong interest in process engineering and manufacturing operations
  • Interest in raw material processing, powder blending, and manufacturing processes
  • Familiarity with: Data collection and analysis, Functional requirements and process documentation, Vibration studies and process improvement
  • Ability to work effectively in a plant and shop-floor environment
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and technical skills
  • Ability to participate in hands-on engineering projects and collaborate with cross-functional teams
  • Familiarity with: Excel, Python, or Minitab/JMP for data analysis, Stress-strain behavior, microstructure-property relationships, and process modeling

Responsibilities

  • Supporting raw material barcoding functional requirements and related process improvements.
  • Assisting with Master Powder Blending BOSS formulation projects.
  • Participating in a Load Station table vibration study to support engineering and process improvement efforts.
  • Applying engineering knowledge to hands-on projects within the manufacturing environment.
  • Working with the engineering team to establish project goals, complete milestones, and provide meaningful project results.
