About The Position

The Process Engineer provides effective use of technical, Lean and administrative competencies to oversee and complete Process Engineering projects. These projects range in complexity including high-volume-high-speed production line installations to development of existing equipment to run new products. This role is responsible for enabling achievement of operations transformation, delivering the operational improvements, sustaining a high-performing Lean & Quality culture, striving for zero defects by utilizing Continuous Improvement processes and tools and be a catalyst to institute a “culture” of process capabilities and control rather than product inspection.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
  • Minimum 4+ years of experience
  • Microsoft Office
  • MP2
  • AutoCad
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
  • Must be able to regularly lift 55 lbs.
  • Must be able to stand / walk for an entire eight hour shift.
  • Occasional bending, crouching, and crawling
  • Must be able to hear and understand work direction in a loud, distracting environment
  • Must be able to judge distance, identify details, and view computer screen regularly
  • Must be able to travel between 3 local locations

Responsibilities

  • Provide specific engineering details for the customer quote request process including: Line Layouts, Production speeds, crewing, bottlenecks, capital requirement, etc.
  • Evaluate and make informed decisions on packaging specifications and fill requirements to achieve a balance between customer needs and in-house capabilities.
  • Evaluate new packaging and work with in-house and outside technical staff to determine exactly what is needed to run on existing equipment.
  • Provide engineering direction to design and create solutions to optimize and expand current capabilities.
  • Provide in-house consultation, support and direction to production and quality groups as it pertains to form-fit-function of new and existing packaging.
  • Direct and supervise in-house technicians, contractors and production/facility mechanics during the installation of new equipment, lines, tanks, etc. to ensure a high standard of work is performed and that all safety, regulatory, quality and GMP’s are followed.
  • Develop the Lean transformation plan: Objectives and targets setting, Resource selection and allocation, Transformation roadmap including planning, scheduling and sequencing, Communication to operational leaders.
  • Lead the transformation of the site including: Leading plant problem solving initiatives, Leading site implementations across Operations Systems (e.g. technical improvements), Management Infrastructure (e.g. key performance indicator development), and Mindsets, Behaviors, and Capabilities (e.g. culture change).
  • Ensuing sustainability and supporting continuous plant improvement.
  • Develop own and build the Lean capabilities of the staff including: Developing and deploying a robust Lean training program, Acting as a coach and mentor to employees and operations leadership.
  • Deliver results for a successful lean transformation.
  • Successful transformation to include increased safety, quality, productivity and cost reduction.
