About The Position

This position will be located in our Plant 5, Ti-Cast Operation, and will support manufacturing through process control and improvement initiatives, assume responsibility for integrity for assigned product, establish and maintain external and internal customer contacts, document and prepare part specific work instruction, maintain knowledge of job cost, and develop/implement appropriate plans to improve profitability. The role involves developing robust processes that consistently meet or exceed customer requirements for quality and performance of components. This includes ensuring processes comply with specifications, driving standardized process management using the scientific method and Six Sigma tools, and authoring/approving work instructions. The engineer will be responsible for determining the root cause of process deviations and developing reaction plans, monitoring and analyzing data to develop process improvement ideas, and supporting manufacturing by ensuring process control and responding to needs for training and interpretation. Additionally, the role involves ensuring equipment reliability, writing capital requests, managing costs and budgets, acting as a liaison between manufacturing, engineering, and facilities for technology communication and implementation, participating in production and NPI meetings, and assisting with customer escape investigations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering from an accredited institution
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in Engineering
  • Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelors degree in Materials Science Engineering from an accredited institution
  • Two (2) years of engineering experience in a manufacturing or lab environment, supporting process control and improvement
  • Experience in investment casting is preferred, specifically in the areas of thermal processing and heat treatment.
  • Ability to communicate with shop floor and management personnel
  • Ability to organize, manage time and prioritize multiple tasks
  • Able to work in a self-directed or team environment.

  • Knowledge of MS Office, with above average capabilities in Excel and/or Minitab

Responsibilities

  • Support manufacturing through process control and improvement initiatives.
  • Assume responsibility for integrity for assigned product.
  • Establish and maintain external and internal customer contacts.
  • Document and prepare part specific work instruction.
  • Maintain knowledge of job cost.
  • Develop/implement appropriate plans to improve profitability.
  • Ensure processes are performed in compliance with methods, materials and equipment specifications as detailed in Corporate Manuals, MSATs, and customer specifications.
  • Drive standardized process management using the scientific method and six sigma tools.
  • Author and approve new and revised Activity Instructions and Product Criteria/Work Instructions for the assigned area of responsibility.
  • Determine the root cause of any deviation from critical process specification.
  • Develop a timely and formal reaction plan which will include an escalating help chain system.
  • Monitor/analyze yield, labor, and materials data to develop process improvement ideas for new and established processes.
  • Monitor manufacturing output to ensure process control.
  • Respond to manufacturing needs: training, work instructions and interpretation.
  • Ensure and monitor equipment for performance and PM completion.
  • Write capital requests, manage costs, and control budgets for specific department needs.
  • Act as a conduit between manufacturing, engineering, and facilities to ensure that technology needs are communicated, and new technology is rapidly tested/implemented.
  • Active member of Production and NPI part meetings with primary responsibility for developing certain process parameters.
  • Assist in investigations, root cause analysis, and implement correction action plans for external customer escapes.
