This role is responsible for analyzing, developing, and improving manufacturing and production processes to enhance efficiency, quality, safety, and cost performance. Requirements

  • BS Degree in Engineering preferred
  • Experience with Microsoft Office
  • Self-starter who is able to meet expectations with minimal supervision
  • Strong organizational skills – able to plan and prioritize multiple tasks/projects
  • Detail oriented and strong communication skills
  • Highly motivated, results oriented, customer focused, with a high commitment level
  • Excellent listening, interpretation and reasoning skills required

Responsibilities

  • Directs and coordinates activities supporting all phases of process improvement (yield, cycle time, etc.)
  • Oversees equipment installation qualification.
  • Provides guidance with process documentation (work instructions, training, etc.).
  • Ensures appropriate transfer criteria is met/implemented for new process development.
  • Designs, optimizes and oversees manufacturing processes.
  • Creates detailed work instructions and visual aids to maintain acceptable production productivity and quality standards.
  • Estimates production set up and run times, material costs, and performs time studies to provide cost analysis.
  • Proposes, sponsors and leads projects that will improve manufacturing performance, reduce costs, improve yields, or reduce cycle time using Lean tools (analyzing work flow, space requirements and equipment layout).
  • Sets up cell manufacturing to minimize setup time and to facilitate increased assembly reaction time to meet customer needs.
  • Assists in designing testing methods to determine process capabilities, standards, and validate process requirements.
  • Participates in value stream mapping exercises to determine and define business improvement areas.
  • Works with plant safety and engineering groups to ensure all concepts meet plant safety requirements.
  • Creates and maintains production data and Routings (Bills of Operations).
  • Assists in the setup of machines and equipment within production areas, including selection, set-up, and start-up (including programming).
  • Assists with SMED activities, which may include designing jigs or fixtures for equipment.
  • Trains supervisors and team leaders in required tasks for new products and/or modifications.
  • Supports continuous improvement and shop cleanliness utilizing 5S.
  • Coordinates TPM activities such as preventive maintenance, collection of data through PM’s, participating in maintenance planning, coordinating planned work outages, and continuously improving the maintenance planning and execution process.
  • Assists with Behavior Based Safety Program.
  • Focuses on doing-it-right to ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Provides value to customers by using Lean tools and concepts to identify and eliminate waste in all forms (scrap/rework, transportation, motion, waiting, inventory, over production, over processing, and under-utilization of people).
  • Uses systemic thinking by seeing processes from end to end and works to challenge the status quo to eliminate the root cause of problems.
  • Is involved in individual and/or team activities that involve using Lean tools and concepts to improve the flow of information and material.
  • Performs other duties as required.
