About The Position

Corning is seeking a Manufacturing Process Engineer to drive continuous improvement and process optimization across our manufacturing operations. In this role, you will lead projects that enhance equipment capability, reduce costs, and support new product integration — directly contributing to the efficiency and competitiveness of our manufacturing division. Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry. This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.

Requirements

  • BS or MS in Chemical, Materials, Mechanical, Electrical or Ceramic Engineering or other Engineering BS or MS degree with 4+ years' experience in Manufacturing Environment.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize work on an independent basis in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to work effectively on all levels of an organization.
  • Use scientific method and engineering principles to solve problems thoroughly and effectively, using well-designed and executed processes.
  • Strong data analysis and statistical skills.
  • Must be proficient with Microsoft Excel, Access, and Minitab, or equivalent

Nice To Haves

  • 7+ years’ experience in a Manufacturing Environment
  • Six Sigma Greenbelt or Blackbelt certification.
  • Knowledge of cable manufacturing, extrusion, and/or other length based manufacturing
  • Project management experience.

Responsibilities

  • Provide engineering-level production support and actively engage in plant safety initiatives and projects
  • Diagnose and resolve process issues through data analysis, structured experimentation, and collaboration with subject matter experts
  • Lead and support cost reduction, process optimization, and new product introduction projects
  • Develop and maintain systems to monitor equipment and process performance, including trend analysis and implementation planning
  • Receive and integrate new technologies, ensuring proper process transfer protocols are followed throughout
