The Process Engineer is responsible for quality, productivity, and cost-improvement projects, including collecting and analyzing current-state data to develop improvement ideas. The role may include designing improvement projects; experience with I-cad is a plus. The engineer manages projects ranging from small line kaizens to full automated-line installations. Responsibilities include creating specifications, schedules, budgets, approval documentation, and designs as applicable; issuing purchase orders; managing fabrication; attending machine run-offs; overseeing installation; and confirming results through data collection, analysis, conclusions, and applicable internal and external approvals. The engineer works closely with PE, MT, PR, QA, and outside vendors as applicable, and oversees stabilization after production launch until targets are achieved. The role provides support for Relay and Air Bag lines, focusing on operation-ratio improvement, reducing shortstops (Chokotei), troubleshooting process and machine issues with PR and MT, and developing root-cause analyses, corrective measures, and troubleshooting guides where applicable. The engineer also supports Production, QA, and MT in solving problems and improving quality and productivity. Additional responsibilities include supporting Production Engineering projects such as engineering changes, new products, component localization, process development and confirmation, validation of parts from new tooling, replacement of obsolete machine components, and line improvements. The engineer is the primary person responsible for vision-system management and modification; maintains machine and tooling drawings and related files; maintains process documentation; assists with new-technology reviews and department road-map development; and performs other Production Engineering tasks and technical reporting.
