About The Position

IFF is a global leader in flavors, fragrances, food ingredients, and health & biosciences, delivering sustainable innovations that elevate everyday products. The Health & Biosciences division channels passion for nature and bioscience into sustainable, life-enhancing technologies for healthcare, food, consumer, and industrial markets. This role is based in Rochester, NY (on-site) and is available for full-time (40 hours per week) during the Spring and Summer semesters of 2027, or Summer-only 2027.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering or related disciplines.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills both verbal and written.
  • Ability to work and complete projects independently, as well as within a team environment.
  • Basic understanding of microbiological concepts and assays.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Teams).
  • Ability to read and understand Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs).
  • Problem solving and critical thinking.
  • Data analysis and visualization.
  • Project leadership.
  • Process Hazard Analysis and Process Safety Management.
  • Communicating effectively and interacting with people of different backgrounds.

  • Outstanding problem-solving, analytical and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong work ethic and the ability to collaborate in cross-functional teams to deliver concrete project deliverables in a timely manner.

Responsibilities

  • Leading engineering projects through investigation, scope, design, and implementation phases to provide safety and capacity improvements.
  • Providing support to engineers in executing plant trials and production/maintenance troubleshooting.
  • Comply with all company policies including, but not limited to: Quality, Safety, Food Safety, Environmental, GMPs, Dietary Supplements, and HACCP.
  • Adhere to all quality systems including ISO 22000 Food Safety, FAMI-QS and NSF Dietary Supplements with an understanding of IFF Corporate Quality policies and procedures.
  • Ability to work safely and comply with all corporate/site EHS guidelines and policies.
