About The Position

The Process Engineer I will support manufacturing operations within the PDBF (Polymer Development and Bulk Fabrication) organization at Medtronic's North Haven, CT site, including a chemical manufacturing environment focused on the production of polymer-based materials used in suture manufacturing. In this role, you will partner closely with Manufacturing, Quality, Operations, and Engineering teams to support the day-to-day performance of manufacturing processes, drive continuous improvement initiatives, and help ensure products are manufactured safely, efficiently, and in compliance with applicable quality and regulatory requirements. As an early-career engineer, you will gain hands-on experience supporting process development, equipment implementation, troubleshooting, validation, and new product introduction activities within a highly collaborative manufacturing environment. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree and 0+ years relevant experience.
  • For Baccalaureate degrees earned outside of the United States, a degree that satisfies the requirements of 8 C.F.R. § 214.2(h)(4)(iii)(A) is required.
  • Possess unrestricted U.S. work authorization at the time of hire and for the duration of employment.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience supporting manufacturing, process development, laboratory, or engineering projects through internships, co-ops, research, or full-time employment.
  • Experience analyzing data and applying problem-solving tools to identify and resolve process, equipment, or product-related issues.
  • Experience working in a regulated environment such as medical device, pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or other manufacturing industries.
  • Experience supporting process validation, equipment qualification, engineering studies, or new product introduction (NPI) activities.
  • Experience using engineering, statistical, or data analysis tools such as Minitab, JMP, Excel, MATLAB, or similar software.

Responsibilities

  • Provides technical and sustaining engineering support in a manufacturing area.
  • Recommends and implements equipment and process modifications to meet quality standards and improve production efficiencies, manufacturing techniques as well as production yields for existing products.
  • Integrates equipment and material capabilities to meet process module target specifications and technology target specifications.
  • Reviews product development requirements for compatibility with processing methods to determine costs and schedules.
  • Interacts with product design and development personnel to ensure that processes and designs are compatible.
  • May develop and conduct statistical analysis or recommend additions to document work.
  • Leads the innovation, development and/or optimization of new manufacturing concepts, processes and procedures for transfer to manufacturing operations. This can include scouting and feasibility work, material selection, process and equipment selection, tooling / fixture and equipment installation and assessment of inputs, outputs and alignment to requirements.
  • Develops manufacturing processes that are applicable to statistical process control and may develop those techniques including the measurement systems.
  • Ensures processes and procedures are in compliance with regulations.
