About The Position

Pentagon Technologies is looking for a Process Engineer to join our team in Austin, TX. This is a key customer-facing technical position which leads new part and process introduction and manages engineering change control processes to support Operations. A strong candidate is resourceful, is able to make decisions and problem solve independently, is professional and organized in a fast-paced environment with strong project management and communication skills. We are open to considering candidates at either the Process Engineer I or Process Engineer II level. The level and corresponding compensation will be determined based on the candidate’s relevant experience, technical qualifications, skills, and other job-related factors.

Requirements

  • Process Engineer I: Bachelor’s degree in engineering with 0-2 years of relevant experience
  • Process Engineer II: Bachelor's degree in engineering AND minimum 2 years of direct experience in parts cleaning OR 4 years' experience
  • Excellent analytical and advanced mathematical skills; spreadsheet and database management skills; strong general computer and statistical reasoning skills

Nice To Haves

  • ASQ Certification, Six Sigma and/or Lean Manufacturing certification a plus
  • ISO9001 lead auditor training/certification preferred
  • JMP experience a plus

Responsibilities

  • Daily engineering assistance to production to facilitate safety, quality, and delivery of orders to Customers
  • Responsible for leading new equipment and analytical instrument installation and qualification
  • Interface with Customers routinely to lead new part and process development and qualification projects
  • Support external and internal audits providing technical expertise
  • Support Customer Satisfaction initiatives and escalations to successful closure
  • Process development of chemical processes, mechanical designs, and/or robotic programs
  • Perform product and process risk assessment activities, including Design/Process Failure Modes & Effects Analysis (DFMEA/PFMEA)
  • Interpret and develop prints and documents for implementation of precision cleaning, surface enhancement (Grit blast, Twin Wire Arc Spray, and other plasma thermal coatings), and measurement processes which meet customer requirements
  • Performing technical training of internal staff to ensure compliance to precision cleaning and surface enhancement procedures as well as defining equipment/metrology operations and maintenance plans
  • Updating and maintaining Process Control Plans to control variation in outgoing quality parameters on customer owned materials
  • Deploy and manage Statistical Process Control programs, Measurement System Analysis studies per Process Control Plans; review data for process improvements; establishing response flows to timely response to trends
  • Disposition nonconforming materials and products, developing and documenting inspection criteria based on customer and internal Quality System requirements
