About The Position

Checkr is hiring a Process Design Specialist to assess how operations processes work today, identify where they break down or fall short, and help design improved processes using established process mapping methods. The role translates customer experiences into concrete, standardized improvements to support flows and documents processes clearly through process maps, SOPs, and runbooks. The specialist will work with manager and senior-team support on larger or more ambiguous decisions. The position involves designing processes for increased automation, defining where agents can execute end to end and where human-in-the-loop checkpoints remain necessary to preserve rigor and compliance. The specialist joins a growing team of knowledge and process specialists and reports to the Senior Manager, Operations Knowledge Systems & Process Design. Periodic travel of less than 10% is required to connect with Checkr teams in San Francisco, Denver, and Santiago. Checkr describes its work environment as collaborative and fast-paced, with employees expected to work from a hub office at least three days per week. A relocation stipend may be available to those willing to relocate to a Checkr hub location.

Requirements

  • At least 3 years of experience in process improvement, business process design, or operations analysis, ideally in a support or operations environment.
  • Hands-on experience with process mapping methodologies, including process flow diagrams, swimlane diagrams, and RACI matrices.
  • Experience assessing current-state processes using structured methodologies and identifying where they break down.
  • Experience translating unstructured or tribal knowledge into clear, standardized documentation such as SOPs, runbooks, and intake forms.
  • Comfort working with support and knowledge systems such as Zendesk, Salesforce, Confluence, or similar tools.
  • Familiarity with AI tools for accelerating process documentation, gap analysis, or workflow audits, and judgment about where human review is needed.
  • Strong facilitation skills and experience running working sessions to gather requirements from cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Excellent written communication skills and ability to produce documentation that is clear to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Experience quantifying process cost in time, volume, or rework before and after changes using existing dashboards and reports.
  • Strong spreadsheet skills, including pivot tables and lookups; SQL is not required.
  • Experience defining and tracking success metrics for process changes and recognizing when an improved metric has not resolved the underlying problem.
  • A strong bias for action, resilience through ambiguity, ownership, urgency, and commitment to meaningful outcomes.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience improving support operations workflows in a high-volume, customer-facing environment.
  • Lean Six Sigma, BPM certification, or equivalent formal process improvement training.

Responsibilities

  • Translate customer experiences into mapped, actionable improvements to support flows.
  • Map current-state and future-state processes using process flows, swimlane diagrams, and RACI to create clear, actionable documentation, with an understanding of FCRA-regulated workflows.
  • Support intake for new process improvement requests so operations teams understand what to submit.
  • Facilitate working sessions with subject matter experts to capture tribal knowledge and convert it into documented, repeatable processes.
  • Partner with Quality & Training, Operations Insights, and Program Management to translate process maps into standardized SOPs, runbooks, and playbooks.
  • Identify opportunities to apply automation and AI-assisted workflows to reduce manual, repetitive steps in support processes.
  • Track process improvement initiatives from assessment through adoption and escalate risks and blockers as needed.
  • Measure process changes against pre-change baselines, report whether changes affected metrics, and flag when a fix has not solved the underlying problem.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to support adoption of new or updated processes.
