About The Position

The Process Controls Professional supports control systems for compression, processing, and pipeline assets in the East. The role provides technical stewardship and programming support for SCADA systems, PLC programs, and HMI systems. It implements process controls improvements, troubleshoots control system issues, and supports projects in accordance with MPLX standards and industry best practices. The position works closely with Operations, Engineering, Maintenance, Measurement, and Environmental teams to promote safe, reliable, and compliant operations through effective control strategies and automation technologies. This position is part of a job family with increasing responsibility, competency, and skill levels. The actual title and pay grade will be based on the selected candidate’s experience and qualifications.

Requirements

Associate's degree or vocational qualifications in a related field.
Seven years of related experience.
Valid driver's license.
Must pass a pre-employment background check and drug test.

Responsibilities

Develop skills in programming, supporting, and troubleshooting local control logic, HMI displays, networks, remote communications and protocols, and metering to meet operational, economic, and regulatory objectives. Systems may include DCS, SCADA platforms, and HMI applications such as DeltaV, Ignition, GeoSCADA, Wonderware, or equivalent.
Use cause-and-effect and controls narrative documentation to assist with factory acceptance tests (FAT) and site acceptance tests (SAT), including documentation for DCS, SCADA, and RTU-based systems.
Troubleshoot basic alarms with operational teams and assist in resolving issues involving control logic execution, HMI behavior, data quality, communications to remote assets, or RTU integration.
Understand local operating processes and piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs), and assist with troubleshooting issues.
Perform maintenance Controls projects and day-to-day support, receiving direction from others and seeking mentoring contacts throughout the organization.
Understand MPLX and industry standards and guidelines.
Understand core concepts and participate in safety-related processes and programs, including process hazards analysis (PHA) and management of change (MOC).
