Process Automation Technician I

Requirements
- Two (2) years of experience relevant to electrical, instrumentation, and/or Process Automation maintenance and troubleshooting in an industrial setting
- Completion of required academic and practical competencies, including Line of Progression requirements for internal employees
- Demonstrated aptitude for technical troubleshooting and maintenance
- Candidates may be required to pass a medical exam.
- Candidates must pass all required training and/or testing.
- Employees may be required to work a non-standard schedule, which may include shift work (other than day shift) at a 24/7, 365-day operation.

Nice To Haves
- PLC, HMI, SCADA, and/or DCS manufacturer training or certification
- Experience with plant process historians or similar database systems
- Experience with ICS/PCN network architecture, communication, and security
- Experience in or understanding of mining and mineral processing systems
- Familiarity with NFPA 70 and NEC or Electrical Journeyman Training
Responsibilities
- Under direct supervision, collaborate with others to troubleshoot, diagnose, maintain, commission, and improve site Industrial Control Systems.
- Follow and participate in Freeport-McMoRan safety and environmental programs and communicate safety implications related to Process Automation and ICS cybersecurity practices.
- Coordinate with others on Process Automation engineering topics and projects.
- Read and interpret engineering documentation and verify project work meets site standards.
- Troubleshoot ICS hardware and software installations and identify opportunities for process improvement through automation.
- Utilize the Process Control Network (PCN) to maintain plant performance, cybersecurity, and historian systems.
- Configure and troubleshoot advanced instrumentation solutions for integration into ICS.
- Understand equipment life cycle management and assist with budgetary estimates to keep systems current.
- Perform other duties as requested.
