About The Position

The Manager, Process Applications will provide overall management of the Process and Applications teams, to create and sustain a collaborative, responsive and productive work environment that delivers valuable process solutions for customers in line with Company goals. The successful candidate will align the existing portfolio, and new development, of process technology solutions with identified market opportunities by actively seeking the voice of the customer and maintaining a detailed understanding of market trends and influences. The Manager, Process Applications will set standards for high quality process engineering designs for separation solutions and products providing value to customers, while managing risk and ensuring profitable business opportunity for the Company. The Manager, Process Applications will oversee the preparation of accurate and timely proposals and quotations meeting customer requirements and contributing to bookings prospects aligned with Company strategy.

Requirements

  • Chemical Engineering Degree.
  • 5-10 years experience with industrial process equipment applications.
  • 1-5 years extensive experience leading teams responsible for systems applications engineering.
  • Exhibit sound business acumen with both strategic and task execution leadership capabilities, enhanced by an entrepreneurial mindset.
  • Be proficient with the following software: MS Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams and PowerPoint, Power Automate or Power BI.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with ion exchange and complementary process separations technologies.
  • Experience with chemical process simulation software.
  • P. Eng. Designation in the Province of Ontario.

Responsibilities

  • Maximize contribution of team members, leveraging their comparative advantage and through mentoring, training and development.
  • Manage and delegate responsibilities to ensure effective utilization of team members and other resources.
  • Anticipate, detect, analyze and resolve challenges faced in the areas of responsibility for the role.
  • Prepare and conduct personnel performance evaluations and proactively manage and motivate contribution of direct reports following Company Values.
  • Departmental budget preparation, adherence and control.
  • Establish, document and continually improve departmental processes, tools and methods.
  • Proactively research and evaluate opportunities for the Company to provide differentiated value-added process technology solution to customers, contributing to Company growth and profitability; this includes significant face time with customers and other external market experts.
  • Consult and coordinate provision of process engineering and technology input and guidance to other departments (e.g. Sales, Technical Service, Systems Engineering, etc.).
  • Final approval of proposals, calculations, equipment selection, costing information, and engineering drawings such as PFD, P&ID, equipment layout.
  • Evaluate, approve, and create implementation programs for, value analysis and innovative improvement projects in conjunction with Systems Engineering and other Company resources as required.
  • Manage the process for review of client specifications in Requests for Quotations (RFQ) in cooperation with Systems Engineering, prioritizing any testing or piloting activity that may be required case by case.
  • Manage the new technology/ product introduction process in conjunction with Systems Engineering through to successful implementation.
  • Lead major process design development, optimization, and standardization efforts.
