About The Position

This role is responsible for scheduling in-office procedures according to department policies and procedures. The Procedure Scheduler will update and confirm patient demographic information, insurance eligibility, and authorization requirements to ensure successful claims processing. They will also communicate with patients regarding authorizations, financial counseling, and scheduling, while addressing questions and complaints to maintain high patient satisfaction. Additionally, the role involves communicating clinical instructions, managing incoming calls and requests, triaging messages, ensuring canceled appointments are properly handled, updating patient information in the practice management system and EMR, and maintaining strict confidentiality of health records in compliance with HIPAA guidelines. Other duties may be assigned.

Requirements

  • Two years of experience in the healthcare field is required.
  • Minimum one year in scheduling or insurance verification.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous call center experience is preferred.
  • Experience in Spinal Cord, Kyphoplasty, and Imaging is highly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Schedules in-office procedures within the required time as designated by the department policies and procedures.
  • Updates and confirms patient demographic information and insurance eligibility; updates and confirms necessary information including authorization requirements to allow successful processing of claims to insurance plans.
  • Provides ongoing communication with the patient(s) regarding authorization, financial counseling, and scheduling.
  • Responds to the patient(s) questions and complaints as required, resolving problems and maintaining high patient satisfaction levels.
  • Communicates clinical instructions needed for appointments/procedures.
  • Answer and resolve incoming calls and requests in a timely, accurate manner. Triage and relay necessary messages to appropriate staff members.
  • Ensures that canceled appointments and related ancillary appointments are canceled and communicated to all stakeholders.
  • Accurately updates patient information in the practice management system and EMR. Performs all required documentation of work completed.
  • Ensure strict confidentiality of all health records, member information, and meet HIPAA guidelines.
  • Other duties as assigned.
