About The Position

Responsible for ensuring excellent patient care, maintaining safety standards, and providing medical assistance in the Procedure room. This role promotes a philosophy of patient/family focused care through cordial greeting and interactions with patients, families, and hospital personnel. The assistant provides hospital/unit orientation information for guests, patients, and families, and demonstrates an awareness of hospital systems and procedures, including the location of all departments, procedure areas, and other patient services. They refer patients, families, and others to appropriate resources, and independently transport and assist in the transfer of patients, ensuring proper patient identification using two approved identifiers. Safety and support measures are ensured during patient transfers, such as raising bedrails and keeping patients covered and warm. The assistant is also aware of special precautions needed when transferring patients requiring specific protocols.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent required
  • Medical Office/Hospital/Managed Care Experience 0-1 year required
  • Must be able to comprehend written directions for mixing cleaning supplies and ordering supplies
  • Must be aware of proper body mechanics when assisting in patient transfer and lifting of heavy objects
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to interact effectively with other health care members
  • Ability to work collaboratively with the surgical team
  • Must constantly be alert and attentive to progress of procedure schedule to meet tight deadlines
