Probe Technician (Day 1 Shift)
About The Position
onsemi is hiring a Probe Technician in Hopewell Junction, New York. This hands-on, multi-skilled position supports semiconductor manufacturing through equipment maintenance, process execution, and daily operations. The technician operates and maintains manufacturing equipment, helps troubleshoot process and equipment issues, and supports smooth production while following safety, quality, and cleanroom standards. Technicians work 12-hour compressed shifts in a cleanroom. The stated Day 1 schedule is Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, and every other Wednesday from 6:30 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Employees may be required to participate in the site Emergency Response Brigade and support emergency preparedness, including maintaining required training, certifications, and readiness in accordance with site policies and business needs. The position is based in Hopewell Junction, NY. The posted base pay range is $17.13–$25.87 per hour, exclusive of fringe benefits or potential bonuses. Final pay depends on factors including geographic location, skills, education, experience, and internal equity. onsemi states that it offers a competitive benefits package.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED and 1–2 years of technical manufacturing experience.
- Ability to stand and walk for up to 10 hours per day in a cleanroom while wearing coveralls, a hood, booties, safety glasses, and gloves.
- Basic computer literacy, including email, web-based systems, and common office productivity tools such as Microsoft Office, for documentation, reporting, and communication.
- Self-motivation, initiative, and drive to exceed performance expectations.
- Analytical problem-solving and troubleshooting skills, with close attention to detail.
- Ability to work well in a diverse team environment.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision and adjust to rapidly changing priorities.
- Fluent spoken and written English.
- Ability to lift up to 35 pounds.
Nice To Haves
- Experience with semiconductor probers and testers.
- Vocational high school education, technical training, or a technical trade certificate.
- Proficiency with hand tools, meters, and calibration tools.
- Knowledge of and ability to follow 5S and LEAN.
Responsibilities
- Operate production tools safely and efficiently in a cleanroom.
- Load and unload wafers, materials, and tools according to operating procedures.
- Monitor equipment performance, alarms, and system statuses.
- Support production goals by maintaining equipment uptime and tool availability.
- Follow safety, ESD, and contamination-control guidelines.
- Perform preventative maintenance on semiconductor manufacturing equipment.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot equipment issues to minimize downtime.
- Assist with equipment repairs, part replacements, and system calibrations.
- Maintain maintenance logs and documentation according to company standards.
- Support equipment startups, shutdowns, and qualification activities.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives for processes, equipment, and operations.
- Work with engineers, technicians, and operators across shifts.
- Assist with training new team members and documenting procedures.
- Maintain housekeeping and organization in work areas.
- Perform duties safely and responsibly while supporting Environmental, Health, Safety & Security programs.
- If required, participate in the site Emergency Response Brigade and support emergency preparedness activities, including maintaining required training, certifications, and response readiness.
