About The Position

The Louisiana Office of Juvenile Justice (OJJ) is seeking dedicated and empathetic individuals to join their team as Probation and Parole Officer-Juvenile. This role is crucial for public safety, reducing recidivism, and supporting the successful rehabilitation of justice-involved youth through professional supervision, guidance, and intervention strategies. The position involves collaborating with judges, law enforcement, and community-based organizations to provide services and supervision for juveniles. The ideal candidate will possess strong competencies in communication, accountability, judgment, ethics, integrity, and adaptability.

Requirements

• Three years of experience in corrections or law enforcement; OR Three years of continuous active military duty (all Military Occupational Specialties apply); OR Six years of full-time experience in any field; OR A bachelor's degree.
• Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as one year of experience towards the six years of full-time work experience in any field. The maximum substitution allowed is 120 semester hours which substitutes for a maximum of four years of experience in any field.
• An applicant who has been convicted of a misdemeanor crime of domestic violence or a felony, or who is under indictment on a felony charge will be disqualified until relief from the disabilities imposed by state and federal laws is granted.
• Possession of a current Louisiana driver's license.
• Willingness and ability to complete the Corrections Juvenile Services-Agent Curriculum.

Responsibilities

• Coordinates care, treatment, and community supervision services for youth across a multi-parish region.
• Conducts risk and SAVRY assessments to determine needs, risk level, and intervention strategies.
• Maintains regular contact with youth, families, and providers to monitor progress and update service plans.
• Serves as secondary case manager for youth assigned to secure-care facilities.
• Identifies community resources and ensures youth receive services in the least restrictive, safe setting.
• Develops, monitors, and submits Individual Service Plans and participates in case staffings.
• Prepares court-related documentation, schedules evaluations, arranges transportation, and submits referral packets.
• Participates in Administrative and Judicial Reviews, prepares court orders, and testifies as needed.
• Monitors programs for compliance, maintains case records/data, and assists with audits and emergency response.
• Provides transportation, supports other agency programs, coordinates Interstate Compact cases, and collaborates with social-service agencies.
