About The Position

The Oregon Youth Authority (OYA) is seeking a Juvenile Parole and Probation Assistant (JPPA) to join their Marion/Polk Field Office team. This role provides hands-on support to Juvenile Parole and Probation Officers in guiding youth through community supervision and rehabilitation. The JPPA will monitor youth progress, coordinate transportation and community resources, prepare case documentation, and build trusting relationships with youth, families, and community partners to help young people build safer, more stable futures. Requirements

Eighteen months experience in a social service, rehabilitative, or correctional program with primary responsibility for guiding individuals or groups in the solution of occupational, educational, personal or social problems; OR An Associates Degree in Criminal Science, Criminal Justice, the Behavioral Sciences, Human Services or a related field
Valid driver license and an acceptable driving record
Verbal de-escalation / crisis intervention skills
Skill in building positive, collaborative relationships with coworkers, lead workers, and managers
Self-motivation and ability to work effectively with a diverse range of stakeholders and perspectives

Nice To Haves

Case management support, report/form writing, and written & verbal communication skills
Experience working with gang-impacted youth
General experience transporting or escorting a supervised population
Prioritization and organizational skills managing multiple complex, competing priorities
Experience applying and removing physical restraint techniques
Familiarity with motivational interviewing techniques and a developmental, partnership-based approach with youth and family (assessed at time of interview or additional assessments)
Working experience reflecting a high standard of professionalism, ethics, and integrity (assessed at time of interview or additional assessments)

Responsibilities

Supervise and monitor youths' behavior in the community and in facilities, including securing transport and conducting required searches under an officer's direction.
Prepare case notes, progress reports, and court- or school-related documentation, and enter information into the Juvenile Justice Information System.
Interview youth, families, victims, and other parties to gather and verify background information used in case review and recommendations.
Connect youth to community resources — treatment, education, employment, and housing supports — to help facilitate successful rehabilitation.
Support Juvenile Parole and Probation Officers with case management backup, case file review, and testimony in court or administrative hearings as needed.
