About The Position

The Department of Linguistics at the University of Oregon seeks to establish a pool of qualified candidates interested in Pro Tem Instructor positions. Depending on departmental needs and candidate qualifications, Pro Tem Instructors may teach lower or upper division undergraduate Linguistics courses covering a range of topics. Positions are limited duration appointments potentially renewable for up to a total of three years, based on programmatic need, funding, and performance. Screening of applications will take place as positions become available and continue until positions are filled.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Linguistics or a related field.
  • Ability to work effectively with faculty, staff, and students from a variety of diverse backgrounds.
  • Ability to contribute to institutional diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts.

Nice To Haves

  • Ph.D in Linguistics or a related field.
  • Instructional experience with functional and cognitive linguistics, as well as second language acquisition and foreign language teaching methods.

Responsibilities

  • Teach lower or upper division undergraduate Linguistics courses covering a range of topics.
