PRN RN - Acute Care Oncology
About The Position
Join Cleveland Clinic Akron General Hospital, a community provider of care for over 100 years, where teams focus on patient-centered care and comfort. The 27-bed 5400 Oncology Unit cares for cancer and hospice patients, trains caregivers to provide therapy, and offers hands-on learning to achieve chemotherapy competency. As an RN, you will deliver care throughout the patient journey, interact directly with patients and families, and provide healthcare education as needed. This PRN position offers varying days and hours and a range of shift options, including staggered start times, flexible shift lengths, and specialized assignments. The caregiver is required to work 48 hours per six-week period.
Requirements
- Graduate from an accredited school of Professional Nursing (Diploma, ADN, or BSN program).
- Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN).
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA).
- Complete the ONS Chemo/Bio course within two years of employment if employed on inpatient and/or outpatient units where chemotherapy is administered.
- External applicants must have two years of recent related nursing experience.
- Internal applicants with less than two years of experience may be considered after the post-orientation/90-day probationary period with Chief Nursing Officer approval.
- Licensed military RN experience will be considered.

Responsibilities
- Provide direct nursing care.
- Implement and monitor patient care plans.
- Serve as a primary coordinator of all disciplines for well-coordinated patient care.
- Monitor, record, and communicate patients’ conditions.
- Note and carry out physician and nursing orders.
- Assess and coordinate patients’ discharge needs.
- Maintain professional growth and development through ongoing formal and informal education and clinical nursing study.
