PRN Pharmacist – Behavioral Health
About The Position
Specialty Medical Staffing is seeking a PRN Pharmacist to provide coverage at an inpatient behavioral health facility in Dothan, Alabama, serving pediatric and adolescent psychiatric patients. The assignment runs November–December 2026, with shifts from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM on selected weekdays. No weekends or on-call coverage are required. The pharmacist will complete one to three days of training before the assignment. Local candidates are preferred; travel expenses may be considered. The pharmacy uses HCS and Med Dispense, with training available for both. Scrubs of any color are required. A background check, drug screen, and facility-specific compliance requirements must be completed before starting. Facility-specific onboarding is also required. Remote pharmacy support is available.
Requirements
- Active Alabama Pharmacist license.
- Strong medication safety and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently with remote pharmacy support.
- Willingness to complete facility-specific onboarding requirements.

- Inpatient or behavioral health experience.
- Local candidates are preferred.
Responsibilities
- Review and verify medication orders for accuracy.
- Communicate with nursing staff about medication changes or requests for prescriber clarification.
- Restock and maintain automated medication dispensing systems.
- Coordinate medication ordering needs with the Director of Pharmacy.
- Ensure safe and accurate pharmacy operations.
