As Patient Companion, you will help facilitate this mission by providing compassionate and top-quality care. In this role, you will assist RNs, physicians, dietitians and other staff in coordinating and fulfilling treatment plans. You will also find a culture that encourages professional growth, educational development and career success. A caregiver in this position works PRN (as needed) varying shifts. Working 48 hours per 6-week schedule and 2 holidays per year will be required.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED
- Heartsaver Level of Basic Life Support (BLS) through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross within three months of hire

- Knowledge and understanding of basic patient care activities, such as basic hygiene, skin care and vital signs
Responsibilities
- Assist with direct and indirect patient care for one to two patients, such as rooming and taking vital signs, weight and pulse oximetry.
- Assure patient safety by ensuring that catheters, tubes or other medical equipment have not been removed or disconnected.
- Accompany and assist patients at all times, including transport, tests, transfers and ambulation.
- Identify and report changes in patient status to an RN or physician.
- Initiate CPR and other emergency measures as required.
- Complete all documentation and provide hand-off communication to caregivers responsible for the patient.
- Collaborate with members of the health care team to promote the delivery of patient care and the overall functioning of the unit.
- Collaborate with personnel in nursing and supportive services in assuring a safe and clean patient environment.
- Maintain confidentiality of information regarding patients and co-workers.
- Complete all documentation on the Unlicensed Assistive Personnel (UAP) flow sheet as directed by the assigned RN.
- Assist with direct and indirect patient care for one to two patients as assigned, or if assigned to a closed unit provides constant observation only for safety for three to four patients
