The PRN MRI Technologist is responsible for positioning and immobilizing patients, selecting appropriate technical factors, and performing computer reformatting of acquired data to obtain high-quality magnetic resonance scans. This role also involves operating support equipment, preparing patients for examinations, explaining procedures, answering questions, and initiating IVs for contrast media administration. The technologist must secure pertinent patient history, maintain safety standards (magnetic, radiation, fire, and universal precautions), document equipment malfunctions and preventative maintenance, and attend mandatory inservices. Additionally, they are responsible for maintaining department records related to patient statistics, supplies, billing, and patient records, as well as keeping abreast of current developments in magnetic resonance and computerized tomography. Good relations with internal and external customers are essential.
