McGill UniversityGuelph, ON
Onsite

About The Position

This course examines the unification of private international air law through the adoption of international conventions and protocols. In particular, it reviews in detail the liability of the air carrier towards passengers and shippers under the Warsaw Convention of 1929, as amended and supplemented, and under the modernized regime of the Montreal Convention of 1999. Relevant case law relating to these conventions will be discussed. The course also examines the basic framework of several other conventions, such as the Rome Convention of 1952 on surface damage done by aircraft, and initiatives to revise the 1952 Rome Convention. Insurance aspects and related implications of the air carrier’s international liability will be addressed.
