About The Position

The Privacy/Security Analyst is responsible for managing the Access Intelligence Platform (AIP) application to include system monitoring, reporting, data trending, and vendor relations. Using AIP, RL Solutions, Compliance Line and other sources the Privacy/Security Analyst will coordinate proactive audits and investigations of suspicious access of patient information. Assist with on-going monitoring of HIPAA security risk mitigation plans utilizing the security risk application tool. Duties include data collection, data entry, reporting and follow up on open items. Aggregate and prepare HIPAA reports as needed for Compliance leadership. This position is responsible for communicating with patients on HIPAA related matters and may support the HIPAA team by performing HIPAA Privacy and Security investigations, reviews, and HIPAA-related audits including but not limited to, routine, directed, and complaint driven audits as needed. Participate in HIPAA assessments through onsite visits to Ballad Health entities.

Requirements

  • Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university preferably in Computer Science, Business Administration, Health Information Management or related field.
  • Minimum of three years of related experience, preferably in a healthcare environment.
  • Professional certification in healthcare privacy and/or security from a credentialing body such as AHIMA, HCCA, or other recognized entity is required or to be obtained within 12 months of hire date.
  • Experience working with EMRs, MS products, word processing, spreadsheets, databases, audit software, and on-line systems.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive and private information in accordance with applicable laws, policies and rules.
  • Ability to plan, organize, and prioritize multiple tasks and work independently to meet deadlines and exercise sound professional judgment.
  • Ability to work effectively with individuals at all levels and with varying backgrounds both within and outside the organization.
  • Knowledge and understanding of federal and state compliance program requirements and ability to plan and implement the elements of an effective compliance program in relation to hospital and healthcare.
  • Knowledge of and demonstrated ability to use logical, analytical, and problem-solving based methodologies to investigate complaints and concerns from patients, staff, faculty, and others, preferably experience in investigating privacy related complaints and concerns.
