About The Position

The Printer Operator is responsible for setting-up, adjusting and maintaining the decorator and related equipment. This role involves understanding and complying with safety procedures, checking and analyzing machine operations, performing changeovers, ensuring product quality, and conducting routine maintenance. The operator will also be responsible for clearing jams, managing supplies, and documenting quality checks. Additionally, they will perform preventative maintenance, address maintenance work orders, and report any equipment malfunctions or quality issues to their supervisor. The role requires operating equipment and assisting as directed.

Requirements

High School Diploma or Equivalent
Familiar with Personal Protective Equipment
Mechanically inclined; familiar with hand tools
Familiar with proper handling of chemicals/solvents.
Basic dry-offset printing skills/knowledge.
Ability to troubleshoot litho/printing press issues
Detail oriented
Prior experience in a fast-paced manufacturing facility
Able to bend and rotate body repeatedly
Exposure to heat, cold, vibrations, odors/fumes, and loud noise
Able to lift up to 35 pounds; push/pull 500 pound drums with hand-truck
Ability to work multiple machines in a fast-paced environment
Able to climb stairs frequently.
Able to visually differentiate colors and read fine print

Previous printing experience preferred.

Responsibilities

Understand and comply with position-related safety SOPs and work instructions, especially for Lockout/Tagout, Chemical Handling, Machine Guarding, Housekeeping, SQF, and Personal Protective Equipment.
Check machines and analyze types of mechanical or operational troubles, planning and taking corrective action to maintain quality.
Make changeovers or conversions by setting up assigned equipment for changes in material, size, or product.
Check, test, and measure product for quality specifications, examining for visual defects.
Make repairs or overhauls as required, replacing worn or damaged parts and re-timing machine action.
Operate, repair, clean, and lubricate equipment as required to maintain production.
Clear jams.
Check varnishes, coatings, inks, lubricants, and supplies, and add or change materials.
Request or obtain additional quantities of supplies.
Examine, test, and measure product from assigned equipment for quality specifications, using appropriate gauges and instruments and recording data.
Perform Preventative Maintenance inspection of assigned equipment, report findings, and take appropriate action.
Perform maintenance work orders as required.
Notify supervisor of any incidences of recurring equipment malfunctions and corrective action taken, and of any poor-quality material or supplies noted.
Operate equipment and assist as directed.
