The Department of Printed Books and Bindings internship will involve work as a project assistant, primarily focused on aspects of the collection management process. The intern will work with department curators and collections management staff on preparing segments of the printed books and bindings collections for major collection shifting. This will include physical survey activities, item identification, inventory validation, and the systematic reorganization of designated collection segments to facilitate a secure and efficient transfer. Additionally, the intern will assist with updating and reconciling electronic records in the Morgan’s collection management system to ensure location accuracy. If the intern is not familiar with such systems, this internship offers the opportunity to learn museum asset management software in a professional setting. Other responsibilities will include research support and liaising with other departments to further the development and organization of exhibition-related work currently in the planning stages.
