Print Technical Operations Supervisor

Covenir BPO•Warner Robins, GA
•Onsite

About The Position

Covenir is a trusted operations and technology partner to insurance carriers providing specialized business process outsourcing solutions that enable growth, efficiency, and regulatory compliance. We run the print and distribution facility that turns insurance documents into mail customers actually receive. As the Print Technical Operations Supervisor, you own both halves of Print Ops — the technical pipeline that keeps composition and output systems running, and the team that runs the floor. You're the escalation point when systems break, the print lead on every new client implementation, and the person accountable for the team's daily performance.

Requirements

  • 5+ years in print, mail, or high-volume document production, or an equivalent combination of related operations experience.
  • 2+ years directly supervising or leading a team, including timecards, attendance, and performance, or equivalent lead experience (shift lead, team lead, or project lead)
  • Demonstrated technical ownership of print composition or workflow software (BlueCrest, Pitney Bowes, or comparable)
  • Working knowledge of USPS requirements including presort, CASS/NCOA, mail piece design, postal rates; Mailpiece Design Professional Certification preferred
  • Experience leading client-facing implementations, from requirements through go-live
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; comfortable explaining technical issues to non-technical audiences
  • Availability for on-call and extended hours as required

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree preferred; an equivalent combination of education, industry certifications, military service, or relevant work experience will be considered.
  • Mailpiece Design Professional Certification preferred

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the subject-matter expert for all print composition, workflow, and job management systems — able to troubleshoot in real time and restore production without vendor assistance in most cases
  • Own the day-to-day technical relationship with IT, Compliance, and Technical Services, plus external software and equipment vendors — manage issue intake, ticketing, escalation, and resolution tracking through closure
  • Scope, test, and implement system and workflow enhancements; document the expected benefit, validate results after release, and communicate changes to the floor before they take effect
  • Lead defect investigation and root-cause analysis for print, composition, and output errors; drive corrective action with the responsible vendor or internal team and confirm the fix in production
  • Coordinate system upgrades, patches, and release testing with vendors, scheduling the work to protect production windows and client service levels
  • Maintain print system configuration records, user access, security roles, and system reporting within Covenir's core systems
  • Evaluate automation opportunities across the print workflow and build or sponsor solutions that cut manual handling, cycle time, and error rate
  • Serve as the print lead on every new client implementation, and on new lines of business or output types added to existing clients
  • Represent print operations in client discovery and technical design discussions; translate client requirements into print, insertion, and mailing specifications
  • Define and document file specifications, data mapping, output formats, delivery methods, and file transfer arrangements with client technical contacts
  • Build, test, and approve print samples and end-to-end test cycles before go live, and obtain written client approval before the first production run
  • Own the implementation timeline for print deliverables — track milestones and report status, risk, and dependencies to management and the client
  • Transition each implemented account to steady-state production: SOP creation, operator training, and a defined post-launch monitoring period
  • Maintain the print implementation playbook so every new client onboarding follows the same repeatable process
  • Coordinate daily activities, work assignments, and process development for the assigned team to ensure results
  • Own departmental administration — scheduling, timecard review and approval, payroll submission, attendance tracking, and PTO approval
  • Administer attendance and performance policy consistently; deliver coaching, corrective action, and documented discipline in partnership with management and HR
  • Run regular one-on-ones, performance appraisals, scorecards, and employee development plans
  • Build and run a training and cross-training program that shortens new-hire ramp time and keeps the team cross-trained on an ongoing basis
  • Support management with recruiting, interviewing, hiring, and onboarding
  • Coach and develop team members by leveraging each person's strengths — and set the standard for professionalism the team follows
  • Keep commercial print, insertion, metering, and finishing equipment production-ready; coordinate preventive maintenance, service calls, and vendor escalation
  • Maintain working knowledge of USPS requirements — presort, address quality, CASS/NCOA validation, mail piece design, postal forms, and rate changes — and confirm output meets postal compliance before release
  • Manage the timely compilation, audit, and adjustment of operational data behind the monthly client service-level reports
  • Report on service levels, performance indicators, and quality control, with analysis, course corrections, and recommendations to management
  • Create, maintain, and audit SOPs, operational manuals, and training materials for the assigned functions and clients
  • Monitor inventory of paper, envelopes, and consumables, coordinating with procurement and vendors to prevent production interruption
  • Maintain client relationships and own escalated concerns and process recoveries
  • Partner with management on a plan to consistently exceed minimum service-level agreements
