About The Position

Exponent is seeking a Principal for its Construction Consulting Practice in Los Angeles, CA. This role involves working within a dynamic and diverse team to advise and assist clients on large and complex construction projects and issues. The firm is looking for experienced construction advisory consultants to lead and expand its construction consulting services. The Principal will be responsible for growing the construction consulting business, focusing on developing and managing new client relationships, providing strategic planning for business opportunities, generating significant revenue, serving as the main liaison between clients and Exponent, overseeing team performance and service quality, advising clients on construction advisory matters (including portfolio, program, and project management; project controls and scheduling; process improvements; risk and performance management; data analytics and information management; change management; and dispute avoidance), and recruiting, developing, and mentoring staff. Additionally, the role involves promoting Exponent's expertise through client meetings, conference presentations, thought leadership articles, white papers, and seminars.

Requirements

  • M.S. or M.S.E. in Nuclear Engineering, Civil Engineering, or Construction Management
  • Minimum 15 years of experience in construction management and project advisory
  • Experience in wildfire risk, enterprise risk management, and asset management
  • Significant experience in construction advisory, including but not limited to portfolio, program, and project management, project controls and scheduling, risk management and performance monitoring, process improvements, data analytics and information management, change management, dispute avoidance, and other areas of construction consulting services
  • Proven business development and client management track record, and the ability to attract projects to support full-time staff

Responsibilities

  • Growing our construction consulting business with a particular focus on developing and managing new client relationships
  • Providing strategic planning to identify, develop, and secure new business opportunities and promote Exponent’s service offerings and brand
  • Generating significant revenue to help build a profitable team of consultants
  • Serving as main liaison between clients and Exponent
  • Overseeing performance of Exponent’s team and quality of our services and deliverables
  • Advising and assisting clients in areas of construction advisory, including but not limited to portfolio, program, and project management; project controls and scheduling; process improvements; risk and performance management; data analytics and information management; change management; and dispute avoidance
  • Recruiting, developing, and mentoring staff in the areas of construction advisory consulting
  • Promoting Exponent's expertise in construction advisory by meeting with potential clients, presenting at conferences, writing thought leadership articles and white papers, and conducting seminars
