About The Position

Sherman Oaks Elementary Charter School is an LAUSD affiliated charter located in Sherman Oaks. We are part of the Van Nuys/Valley Glen Network in Region North serving 499 elementary students in grades TK to 5. Our school is defined by an extensive and unified sense of community. Through collaboration between all stakeholders, Sherman Oaks Elementary Charter School provides an enriched educational experience. SOEC offers a robust enrichment program that includes music, art, science and robotics and is deeply committed to climate literacy and environmental sustainability. Requirements

  • Eight years of successful full-time public school district certificated service.
  • A minimum of three years of experience as a teacher in a K-12 program.
  • A minimum of two years of experience in an elementary school.
  • Two years of service in a position that required and utilized an administrative credential, such as assistant principal or equivalent position.
  • A valid California teaching credential requiring a Bachelor's degree and a program of professional preparation, including student teaching.
  • A valid California Administrative Services Credential.
  • Multicultural coursework.
  • Master’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university.
  • District Master Plan requirements.
  • Candidates must be in the appropriate LAUSD eligible pool for the position or currently serving in the class for which they are applying.
  • Candidates must successfully complete the appropriate LAUSD Aspiring Administrator Program to be placed in the eligible pool.

  • Experience with creating a rigorous standard-based instructional program for all students in grades TK-5.
  • Experience implementing a school wide positive behavior system for elementary school students.
  • Experience with parent engagement, differentiated professional development, and programs for STEAM students.
  • Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively and collaboratively with instructional leaders, students, and parents.
  • Candidates have one year to complete the Multicultural coursework and District Master Plan requirements.
