About The Position

The Little Rock School District is seeking a Summer Elementary School Principal for the 2026 Grade 3 Summer School program. The principal will be responsible for the overall planning, organization, implementation, supervision, and evaluation of the summer school operation. This is a temporary position with specific program dates to be determined. The compensation is $40.00 per hour for a 5-hour workday.

Requirements

  • At least three (3) years’ successful teaching experience and/or administration.
  • A master’s degree (minimum).
  • Certification as an elementary principal or eligible for certification.
  • Evidence of a strong commitment to quality desegregated education.
  • Evidence of successful experience with parents and staff involvement in decision making.
  • Evidence of successful experience in dealing with student problems.
  • Evidence of ability to set priorities, supervise and train personnel and make appropriate decisions.
  • Evidence of ability to function as a member of an administrative team.
  • Evidence of ability to become a competent educational leader in both curriculum and instruction.
  • Evidence of the ability to maintain accurate inventories, records, and reports.
  • Demonstrates the conviction that all children can and will learn in the Little Rock School District.

Responsibilities

  • Serves as the chief advisor to the Assistant Superintendents and Teaching and Learning in matters about the administration and program implementation in his/her school.
  • Implements the process whereby school-level educational program needs are identified, alerts Assistant Superintendents regarding needed logistical and consultative support in order to accomplish this task.
  • Works with staff and patrons to determine educational program priorities and goals for his/her school.
  • Oversees the development of educational programs and the plans for implementing them on the school level.
  • Seeks the necessary consultative and logistical support to assure effective educational program implementation.
  • Monitors program implementation in his/her school.
  • Works with supervisor and building staff to make the necessary changes.
  • Assumes responsibility for conducting the performance evaluation of assigned personnel.
  • Assumes responsibility for all record-keeping and other administrative tasks normally assigned to the principal.
