About The Position

The Riverdale School District is seeking an exceptional candidate to fill the position of High School Principal at Riverdale High School. This role provides crucial instructional leadership to the entire school community. The Principal will be responsible for leading the RHS Equity and Inclusion Team, implementing district policies, and ensuring compliance with state and federal requirements, including Common Core State Standards and the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Programme. The position involves developing and supporting rigorous, student-centered academic programs, contributing to student achievement through data-driven decision-making, and directing effective staff development. The Principal will collaborate with various parent, staff, and community committees to foster strong, coordinated relationships focused on student outcomes. Ensuring a positive learning environment through appropriate behavioral expectations, providing leadership on school improvement, and demonstrating a strong commitment to students of all abilities, including Special Education and Talented and Gifted programs, are key aspects of this role. The Principal will also support all school programs, including athletics and clubs, and manage the hiring, assignment, retention, and evaluation of all staff. Effective communication with all stakeholders and participation in professional development are also essential. The role includes managing the High School building budget and ensuring adherence to district purchasing practices. There is potential for a district leadership stipend.

Requirements

  • Administrative Credential through Oregon TSPC or eligibility to gain one
  • Master's degree in Education
  • 5 or more years of successful teaching experience
  • Exceptional communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
  • High ethical and professional standards
  • Ability to work well under pressure and multiple deadlines
  • Collaborative and team-focused
  • Demonstrated experience in an educational setting
  • Front-facing and highly engaged with the community

Nice To Haves

  • Previous Administrative experience preferred
  • Experience in Special Education & Talented and Gifted Programs preferred
  • Experience working with diverse student populations preferred
  • Experience with district Equity Initiatives preferred
  • Experience with or knowledge of the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Programme

Responsibilities

  • Leading the RHS Equity and Inclusion Team

  • Providing leadership to staff, parents, and students on all aspects of school improvement
  • Demonstrating a strong knowledge of and commitment to working with students of all abilities, including Special Education and Talented and Gifted programs
  • Supporting all school programs, including athletics, clubs, and other student organizations, and other extensions of classroom learning
  • Hiring, assigning, retaining, and evaluating all classified and certified staff
  • Communicating with all school and community stakeholders through multiple mediums
  • Contributing to effective school programs by participating in professional conferences, trainings, and readings
  • Managing the High School building budget and ensuring district purchasing practices are followed
