About The Position

St. Lawrence Catholic School, located on the northeast side of Indianapolis, is seeking a faith-filled and dynamic Principal to begin with the 2026–2027 academic year. Serving approximately 225 students in Pre-K through 8th grade, St. Lawrence is a diverse, Christ-centered school community dedicated to forming the whole child-mind, heart, and spirit. As a Four-Star School with a nearly 75-year legacy of academic excellence, we are supported by an engaged parish, committed families, and a talented, mission-driven faculty and staff. The Principal serves as the chief administrator of the school and is responsible for advancing its Catholic mission while ensuring excellence in academics, operations, and community engagement.

Requirements

  • Be a practicing Catholic in good standing, committed to the mission of Catholic education
  • Demonstrate a strong commitment to fostering Catholic identity in a school setting
  • Possess excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Show a passion for academic excellence and student success
  • Have experience in instructional leadership and staff development
  • Hold a valid Indiana administrator's license (or be working toward licensure)

Nice To Haves

  • Prior school leadership experience
  • Experience working in diverse or multicultural school communities
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) ability is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Provide Faith-Based Leadership
  • Foster and strengthen the Catholic identity of the school through visible, mission-centered leadership
  • Model the teachings and values of the Catholic Church in word and action
  • Maintain an active presence in parish and school life
  • Lead Academic Excellence
  • Oversee curriculum development and implementation aligned with Archdiocesan standards and the National Standards and Benchmarks for Effective Catholic Schools (NSBECS)
  • Promote high-quality instruction, student achievement, and continuous improvement through data-informed practices
  • Support and Develop Faculty & Staff
  • Recruit, hire, and retain qualified faculty and staff
  • Provide ongoing supervision, evaluation, and professional development
  • Cultivate a collaborative, positive, and mission-driven school culture
  • Manage School Operations
  • Oversee daily operations, ensuring a safe, effective, and welcoming learning environment
  • Work collaboratively with the Pastor and Business Manager on budgeting, financial stewardship, and facilities
  • Build Strong Relationships
  • Serve as the primary representative of the school to parents, parish leadership, and the broader community
  • Foster open communication, trust, and engagement among all stakeholders
