About The Position

As a Principal UX Designer at Walmart, you will lead the development and enhancement of user experience strategies by conducting comprehensive research, user interviews, and usability testing. This role requires collaboration with cross-functional teams and stakeholders to translate insights into innovative design solutions that drive customer satisfaction and business value. You will oversee prototyping, interaction design, and visual design efforts while ensuring alignment with organizational goals. Your expertise will guide the creation of scalable, user-centered products that improve engagement and operational efficiency across Walmart’s digital platforms. The financial services and payments design team is part of Walmart’s Global Design organization, enhancing both consumer and associate experiences. We design how customers pay online and in-store by transforming complex processes into clear, intuitive interactions. We collaborate closely with engineering, product, and business partners, the team applies user-centered design principles, prototyping, and usability testing to deliver seamless experiences. Their work supports continuous improvement through research and cross-functional collaboration, ensuring solutions meet customer needs effectively while maintaining high standards of quality and innovation.

Requirements

  • Deep experience designing payments and financial services experiences, simplifying complex flows while building customer trust and clarity.
  • Strong proficiency in prototyping and usability testing to validate payment journeys, financial products, and transactional experiences.
  • Expertise in interaction and visual design, leveraging native mobile patterns, accessibility standards, and design systems.
  • Ability to translate complex financial, technical, and regulatory requirements into simple, intuitive customer experiences.
  • Strong cross-functional collaboration with product, engineering, research, legal, compliance, and business partners to balance customer and business needs.
  • Proven ability to use qualitative and quantitative insights to identify opportunities, influence strategy, and continuously improve financial experiences.
  • Bachelor's degree in UI/UX design, graphic design, visual communication, product design, computer science, information technology, or related area and 5 years’ experience in UI/UX, interactive and visual design, electronics art, multimedia design, or related area.
  • 7 years’ experience in UI/UX, interactive and visual design, electronics art, multimedia design, or related area.

  • Driving product development in a user experience area
  • Master's degree in UI/UX Design, Interactive and Visual Design, Product Design, or related area
  • Related industry experience (for example, retail, supply chain, eCommerce, healthcare)

  • Background in creating inclusive digital experiences, demonstrating knowledge in implementing Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 AA standards, assistive technologies, and integrating digital accessibility seamlessly.

Responsibilities
