Position Purpose: Principal Technician (Machining & Assembly), this is a dual competency role with a high level of autonomy, uniquely combining high-level CNC programming/operation with the full scope of mechanical and electrical assembly responsibilities, serving as a technical bridge between fabrication and integration operations.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • 12+ years of progressively responsible aerospace/precision machining experience or related experience.
  • Demonstrated expertise in CNC machining and mechanical assembly.
  • Interpretation of blueprints/technical specification and applied knowledge of GD&T (ANSI/ASME Y14.5).
  • Experience using metrology tools (CMM, Micrometers, Calipers, Multi-meters, etc.)
  • Demonstrated experience leading and mentoring junior technicians.
  • Experience using SolidWorks, AutoCAD, and/or Autodesk Fusion 360 for design interpretation.
  • CAM software experience (Mastercam, Fusion 360 CAM, or similar).
  • Excellent manual dexterity, ability to handle small parts
  • Possess strong problem solving and communication abilities.
  • High standard of workmanship is a must.
  • Related technical experience may be considered in lieu of education

Nice To Haves

  • Candidates also possessing experience in schematic interpretation, electronics, and wiring harness installation are preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, optimize, and execute CNC machining programs for complex aerospace components (G-code and CAM).
  • Operate advanced CNC equipment (mills, lathes, multi-axis machines) with precision and efficiency (equipment setup, tool selection, and in-process verification).
  • Troubleshoot machining issues and implement corrective actions to maintain quality standards.
  • Use Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and industry best practices to collaborate with engineering for design and concept translation into manufacturable components.
  • Perform and maintain records for equipment preventive maintenance (PM) (routine inspections, troubleshooting, repairs, and maintenance).
  • Lead the assembly of advanced mechanical and electrical aerospace components.
  • Interpret and delegate work instructions, blueprints, and technical specifications.
  • Execute precision assembly operations requiring meticulous attention to detail.
  • Integrate machined components, electronics, and harnessing into larger assemblies and systems.
  • Perform quality inspections using precision metrology tools and techniques.
  • May program and operate automated conformal coating/PVA machines.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned
