About The Position

Skylo is seeking a Principal Technical Recruiter to be the most expert recruiter in the building. This individual will own the hardest searches, the hiring system, and set the bar for the rest of the team. This is the senior-most individual-contributor seat in Talent Acquisition, responsible for writing and teaching the hiring playbook. The role involves taking on critical, ambiguous, or senior searches, including leadership roles and deeply technical positions in new domains. The goal is to improve the entire talent acquisition function by enhancing predictive loops, calibration, closing speed, and candidate experience. This person will be the go-to for leadership regarding the talent market, role scoping, and identifying issues within the hiring system.

Requirements

  • A Computer Science degree, Information Systems degree, or comparable technical educational background, demonstrating fluency in technical concepts.
  • 8+ years of in-house technical recruiting experience, with significant work at startups or scaleups in high-velocity, scaling organizations.
  • Experience building or overhauling a recruiting function or system, not just contributing to one.
  • Demonstrated deep partnership with hiring managers and executives, including shaping role definitions, redesigning interview loops, advising on talent strategy, or stopping unsuccessful searches.
  • Proven ability to act as a force multiplier and raise the bar for other recruiters through mentorship, calibration, or implementing standards and tooling.
  • Expert-level AI fluency in daily workflows, including designing AI-accelerated workflows for outreach, candidate signal synthesis, boolean strategy, and screening.
  • Comfort defining, hitting, and reporting on KPIs (pipeline velocity, offer acceptance, time-to-hire) while maintaining a focus on quality.
  • Skill in identifying niche technical talent across software, hardware, and satellite communications domains, with the ability to learn vocabulary quickly and source precisely in new areas.
  • A track record of closing complex, senior, and executive offers by communicating mission, scope, and equity value, particularly with passive candidates.
  • A bias toward proactive improvement, fixing broken steps in the funnel and ensuring fixes are sustainable for the team.
  • Familiarity with modern ATS/interview-intelligence tools like Ashby and Metaview.

Responsibilities

  • Own the most critical, ambiguous, and senior searches at Skylo, including leadership and executive hires, founding-level technical roles, and searches in new domains.
  • Own the hiring system end-to-end, including interview architecture, scorecard and rubric design, sourcing methodology, intake standards, calibration practice, and candidate communications.
  • Set the standard for great searches, loops, and closes at Skylo, and elevate the performance of other recruiters and hiring managers through coaching and leading by example.
  • Partner with founders, executives, and functional leaders as a trusted advisor on role definition, organizational design, market realities, and compensation positioning.
  • Drive Skylo's AI-native recruiting practice by designing AI-accelerated workflows, evaluating new tools, and setting the standard for AI-assisted recruiting.
  • Own talent strategy and pipeline planning in partnership with leadership, anticipating future hiring needs, building pipelines ahead of demand, and providing market insights.
  • Achieve aggressive velocity and offer-acceptance targets while defining and maintaining the quality bar for searches.
  • Champion a candidate experience that reflects Skylo's mission and brand during high-stakes interactions.
