About The Position

The Principal Technical Business Analyst understands and balances business and technical engineering/IT needs to help deliver quality digital products and operational workflows that meet or exceed business objectives. The role analyzes costs, benefits, and risks of proposed products or services and recommends alternatives throughout the product life cycle. The analyst works with stakeholders and users to research, validate, synthesize, articulate, and document business and systems requirements. This includes data analysis; translating business needs into technical specifications, acceptance criteria, user experience requirements, and system validation; and considering the complete technical and non-technical solution. Engineering/IT uses the resulting technical specifications in design, product build or acquisition, and integration. The role may also assist product and operations leaders with coordinating deployment and contribute to product documents, project charters and plans, work assignments, schedules, and deliverable dates. The position applies systems engineering methodologies throughout the product and project lifecycle, drives business analysis best practices through training and mentorship, and establishes scope boundaries and monitors scope estimates and schedules. It assesses problems through root-cause analysis, develops solutions, and interprets vendor and solution architecture to define integration scope and technical requirements for Mayo Clinic systems and workflows. It also helps define implementation change-management requirements for products that do not require formal Implementation Team resources.
