Our employees are not only part of history, they're making history. Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is seeking Principal/Sr Principal Project Manager. This position is located in Roy, UT. This role may offer a competitive relocation assistance package. Project Managers serve as the primary liaison between projects and stakeholders, regularly reviewing status, managing schedules, and preparing reports. They apply their knowledge, skills, tools, and techniques across all project phases—Initiating, Planning, Executing, Monitoring & Controlling, and Closing—to deliver projects on time, within scope, on budget, and with high quality. Their core duties include developing and maintaining comprehensive project plans that encompass such items as work breakdown structures, detailed schedules, cost estimates, and resource allocations, while continuously monitoring progress, tracking performance, and reporting status. They also identify, assess, and mitigate risks and opportunities, ensuring compliance with standards such as Earned Value Management and aligning deliverables with Northrop Grumman requirements. In addition to technical competencies, Project Managers must demonstrate strong soft skill capabilities. Effective communication, leadership, problem solving, and negotiation are essential for managing stakeholder expectations and supporting team members. They are expected to uphold company values, make business savvy decisions, and foster collaboration, all of which keep projects aligned with organizational goals and ensure successful outcomes.

Requirements

Principal Project Management: 5 Years experience with Bachelors; 3 Years with Masters; 1 Year with PhD; or an additional 4 years of experience may be considered in lieu of degree.
Sr Principal Project Management: 8 Years experience with Bachelors; 6 Years with Masters; 4 Year with PhD; or an additional 4 years of experience may be considered in lieu of degree.
Ability to obtain and maintain DoD Secret Clearance with an ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) approval within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company to meet its business need.
High level of proficiency using Microsoft Office suite.
Proven success managing multiple projects simultaneously.
Working knowledge of the following: Developing Statement of Work (SOW) and Supplier Data Requirement List packages (SDRL).Developing, Implementing and Updates on Project Schedules.

Nice To Haves

IBM Rationale DOORS software experience.
Aerospace Manufacturing and/or Aerospace Engineering knowledge.
Previous Project Management (or similar) knowledge/experience.
Knowledge of Project Management principles and experience, ability to utilize them professionally.
Practice in implementing Lean/Agile principles and methodologies.
Request for Proposal (RFP) Planning.

Responsibilities

Oversees and manages the operational aspects of ongoing projects and serves as liaison between project management and planning, project team, and line management.
Control Account management responsibilities, inclusive of: Top level IMS and task management, Cost accounting and control, EAC management, Jira stories management, QBDs, internal tools, BOEs, Risk Management, and Variance Analysis Reporting.
Assesses project issues and develops resolutions to meet productivity, quality, and client-satisfaction goals and objectives.
Develops mechanisms for monitoring project progress and for intervention and problem solving with project managers, line managers, and clients.
