About The Position

Microsoft Security is seeking a Principal Software Engineering Manager to lead a key subsystem of an exabyte-scale security data platform. The role drives technical strategy and end-to-end feature development, leads a team of engineers, and collaborates with partner teams to deliver scalable, high-performance solutions. The platform integrates and normalizes security data across on-premises, multi-cloud, and SaaS environments to provide visibility into organizations’ digital estates and help customers manage security data efficiently. It uses AI and machine learning to uncover threats, identify patterns, and answer security and governance questions in real time. The manager leads engineering practices across the software development lifecycle, including responsible use of AI, test strategy and automation, dependency integration, code quality, security, compliance, reliability, deployment automation, and cross-team product integration. The role also develops team capabilities and promotes Microsoft’s growth mindset, collaboration, inclusion, respect, integrity, and accountability.

  • Collaborate across teams to resolve dependency ownership and validation conflicts and align delivery schedules.
  • Coach engineers on reviewing product and test code for standards, coverage, and fitness for purpose.
  • Lead timely, insightful code reviews that improve quality and accelerate delivery, assessing diagnosability, reliability, testability, maintainability, security, compliance, and engineering best practices.
  • Ensure automated source-code analysis is included in the build and development process.
