About The Position

The Principal Software Engineering Manager will build, coach, and lead a team responsible for architecting and designing services and solutions to manage Entra ID identities and access at scale. The role combines cybersecurity expertise, technical leadership, people management, and experience building and operating large-scale online services. The manager will help shape Microsoft security, protect Microsoft services and customers, and lead and grow a group of security software engineers.

The IAM Protect team builds, secures, and protects Microsoft’s internal Entra ID identities, groups, tenants, and other digital resources. It develops scalable services and solutions to create, enumerate, configure, govern, and secure a large fleet of digital assets. The role includes supporting customers and live site operations, partnering with stakeholders to define and deliver products, and providing hands-on leadership across architecture, design, development, security, and quality.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field and 6+ years of technical engineering experience coding in languages such as C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python, or equivalent experience.
• Must be able to meet Microsoft, customer, and/or government security screening requirements, including passing the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire or transfer and every two years thereafter.

Nice To Haves

• 5+ years of experience operating online services.
• 3+ years of people management experience; Big Tech experience at Microsoft, Amazon, Meta, Apple, or Google is preferred.
• Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field and 8+ years of technical engineering experience coding in languages such as C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python, or equivalent experience; alternatively, a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field and 10+ years of such experience, or equivalent experience.
• Experience in cybersecurity.
• Experience designing solutions on Entra ID (Azure AD) and Azure.

Responsibilities

• Hire, coach, and grow a world-class team of software engineers.
• Support customers and live site operations with a team of DevOps engineers.
• Provide hands-on technical leadership in architecture, design, code reviews, development, security, and quality.
• Partner with product management, partners, customers, and other stakeholders to define requirements, scope projects, and ship products in rapid, iterative cycles.
• Lead architecture and design of software systems.
• Operate online services.
