About The Position

The Principal Software Engineer - Tech leads complex, large-scale cross-functional projects by translating requirements into innovative technical solutions and overseeing design, development, and testing activities. This role directs engineering teams, including offshore associates, to ensure timely delivery and high-quality outcomes while driving root cause analysis and continuous improvement. Collaborating closely with business partners and stakeholders, the position supports strategic objectives by identifying priorities, removing obstacles, and fostering a high-performance environment. The role also emphasizes mentorship, adherence to company values, and the promotion of integrity and operational excellence across all initiatives. Our team operates across the US and India, developing scalable systems to manage software dependencies across thousands of repositories. We focus on enforcing software lifecycle and security policies, automating CI/CD failure diagnosis and remediation through AI and machine learning, and enhancing developer experiences. Combining platform engineering, distributed systems, AI-driven architecture, security, and compliance, the team prioritizes automation, self-service, reliability, and reducing engineering effort at scale. This collaborative environment drives innovation and operational excellence to support Walmart’s technology goals effectively.

Requirements

  • Strong in Java, J2EE, Spring, JVM internals, concurrency, multithreading, service oriented architecture, and RESTful web services.
  • Extensive experience leading large-scale, cross-functional engineering projects with a focus on technical solution design and system architecture.
  • Proven ability to translate complex requirements into scalable, cloud-native architectures and design artifacts.
  • Strong expertise in software development, including code review, unit testing, and design verification.
  • Demonstrated leadership in mentoring and managing engineering teams, fostering collaboration and performance excellence.
  • Proficient in root cause analysis and implementing solutions to prevent defect recurrence.
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills to drive project success and continuous improvement.
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, computer information systems, software engineering, or related area and 5 years’ experience in software engineering or related area.
  • 7 years’ experience in software engineering or related area.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, computer information systems, software engineering, or related area and 3 years' experience in software engineering or related area.
  • Background in creating inclusive digital experiences, demonstrating knowledge in implementing Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 AA standards, assistive technologies, and integrating digital accessibility seamlessly.
  • Knowledge of accessibility best practices and joining to create accessible products and services following Walmart’s accessibility standards and guidelines for supporting an inclusive culture.
