Principal Software Engineer, Growth

UiPath•Bellevue, WA
•$218,000 - $275,000

About The Position

The Principal Software Engineer, Growth owns the experience from a user's first interaction with UiPath through their first automation and subsequent adoption or upgrade. The role combines hands-on engineering with product thinking: investigating why users adopt, stay, or leave; identifying problems to solve; defining success metrics; and building and shipping changes validated with data. This is a founding engineering role on a high-visibility team, working directly with senior engineering and product leaders. The engineer will work across the platform and codebase, using AI coding agents to take ideas from concept to production. The role offers autonomy to shape experiments and build on UiPath's agentic automation platform.

Requirements

  • Principal-level engineering experience.
  • Recent hands-on experience shipping full-stack production code, such as TypeScript, React, and backend services, or similar technologies.
  • Use coding agents every day and be able to describe an AI-native development workflow in detail.
  • A track record in growth, activation, or funnel work at a product-led company, with metrics personally improved.
  • Strong product sense, including independently identifying problems, proposing solutions, and deciding how to measure success.
  • Ability to deliver quickly with a small footprint and achieve results without a large team.
  • Clear written and spoken communication, including the ability to make a case to senior leaders.

Nice To Haves

  • Growth experience at an enterprise product-led company where self-serve users become business customers.
  • Experience optimizing for AI agents as users, such as through agent-friendly documentation, APIs, and discovery.
  • A public presence through talks, posts, open source, or content read by developers.
  • Familiarity with automation, workflow, or developer-platform products.

Responsibilities

  • Help define the growth metrics owned by the team, from sign-up and trial activation through upgrade.
  • Study product telemetry and public signals, including community forums, social media, and video comments, to identify where users get stuck and why.
  • Turn findings into testable hypotheses, then build, ship, and A/B test solutions.
  • Work in any part of the codebase needed to implement a fix rather than handing it off to another team.
  • Use AI coding agents to move ideas from concept to production quickly.
  • Communicate experiments to engineering, product, design, and leadership, explaining the rationale, success measures, and findings.
