Principal Software Engineer/Developer
About The Position
Develops software using relational databases such as SQL, Oracle, and RDBMS, as well as NoSQL databases including MongoDB, DynamoDB, and Cassandra. Designs, develops, and implements Java Spring Boot and microservices frameworks. Builds and deploys applications using AWS-native services and technologies, including EKS, AWS Batch, Step Functions, Lambda, IAM, S3, AWS Bedrock, SNS, and RDS. Containerizes applications using Docker and Kubernetes. Uses business knowledge to translate divisional initiatives into business solutions by developing complex or multiple software applications and conducting studies of alternatives. Analyzes and recommends changes to project development policies, procedures, standards, and strategies to development experts and management. Participates in architecture design, defines and implements application-level architecture, and develops applications for complex projects, components, and subsystems. The role also supports project planning and delivery, quality assurance readiness, risk management, business-unit coordination, technical strategy, and mentorship.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, or a closely related field (or foreign education equivalent), and five years of experience as a Principal Software Engineer/Developer or in a closely related occupation developing, maintaining, and performing software application development in an enterprise development environment using modern AWS cloud technologies and concepts; alternatively, a master’s degree in one of those fields (or foreign education equivalent) and three years of such experience.
- Demonstrated expertise in Object-Oriented Design and Java web application development using Java/J2EE, Spring MVC, Spring Security, SOAP, and RESTful web services.
- Demonstrated expertise building and maintaining microservices-oriented web applications in a B2B environment spanning multiple systems and applications in a financial services, banking, or insurance domain.
- Demonstrated expertise gathering requirements and translating them into system specifications and designs using enterprise-wide web services, API solutions, microservices, and REST design principles.
- Demonstrated expertise configuring enterprise-class applications according to business rules using Oracle configuration tables and a configuration server.
- Demonstrated expertise provisioning AWS cloud infrastructure components, including AWS Batch, ECS, EKS, RDS, and Elastic Load Balancer setup, for cloud data analysis, reporting, and consumption.
- Demonstrated expertise using AWS, AWS Lambda serverless computing, CloudFormation, and CI/CD tools including Jenkins and GitHub.
- Demonstrated expertise performing Aerospike caching to improve real-time compliance and performance using Oracle, and designing and developing real-time ingestion pipelines into Oracle, Step Functions, and AWS Batch.

- Acts as a primary liaison for business units to resolve project and technology issues.
- Provides technology solutions to daily issues and technical evaluation estimates for technology initiatives.
- Advises senior management on technical strategy.
- Mentors junior team members.
- Performs independent and complex technical and functional analysis for multiple projects supporting several divisional initiatives.
- Develops original and creative technical solutions for ongoing development efforts.
