About The Position

Designs and delivers large-scale, cloud-native applications supporting critical business capabilities, using modern full-stack engineering and service-oriented design principles. Applies scalable, decoupled, and event-driven architecture patterns to build high-performance, resilient systems aligned with enterprise standards. Drives disciplined Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) and automated testing practices to support quality, security, and production readiness. Translates complex business objectives into technical solutions for major divisional initiatives, evaluates alternatives to solve domain-specific problems, and partners with architects and stakeholders to mitigate risk, improve delivery outcomes, and evolve platform strategy in support of long-term organizational goals. The role participates in architecture design, defines application-level architecture, develops applications and subsystems for complex divisional projects, and takes responsibility for software quality assurance readiness, project planning, delivery, and technical strategy. It also serves as a liaison to business units, advises senior management, and mentors junior team members. Fidelity states that it is transitioning to a full-time onsite working model through a phased rollout across regions and roles. Current onsite expectations vary by role and location and may evolve; this transition does not apply to fully remote roles. Fidelity will not provide immigration sponsorship for this position.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, or a closely related field (or foreign education equivalent), and five years of experience as a Principal Software Engineer/Developer or in a closely related occupation designing, developing, and maintaining customer-facing web applications and services in a financial or retail services environment; or a qualifying master’s degree in one of those fields and three years of such experience.
Demonstrated expertise designing, developing, and maintaining customer-facing web applications and services using Java, Spring framework, Angular, and JavaScript.
Demonstrated expertise designing, developing, and implementing cloud-based software solutions for application clients according to RESTful web services architecture using Spring framework.
Demonstrated expertise designing, coding, and reviewing high-quality software solutions for Service Oriented Architecture (SOA)-based applications.
Demonstrated expertise developing customer-facing, secure web applications using Java or Spring frameworks, classical Model View Layer (MVC) architecture, Azure SSO, AWS KMS, and OAuth technologies.
Demonstrated expertise developing distributed, low-latency, high-throughput systems with Cartographer, Mario, and Rushhour while following Test Driven Development (TDD) practices within Agile methodology.
Demonstrated expertise deploying and monitoring enterprise web-based services to provide CI/CD of scalable multitiered web applications using Jenkins, NPM, and Maven for package management.
Demonstrated expertise performing version control using Git; issue tracking using Jira, Service Now, and Quality Center; and log tracking using Splunk.
Demonstrated expertise providing continuous delivery according to Agile methodologies and monitoring customer-facing, business-critical applications using Splunk and DataDog.

Responsibilities

Participate in architecture design teams.
Define and implement application-level architecture.
Develop applications, components, and subsystems for complex divisional projects.
Recommend development testing tools and methodologies, and review and validate test plans.
Ensure QA readiness of software deliverables.
Develop comprehensive documentation for multiple applications or subsystems.
Establish full project life cycle plans for complex projects across multiple platforms.
Meet project goals on time and within budget.
Advise on project risk assessment and risk management strategies.
Plan and coordinate complex schedules and assignments across multiple projects.
Act as a primary liaison for business units to resolve project and technology issues.
Provide technology solutions to daily issues and technical evaluation estimates for technology initiatives.
Advise senior management on technical strategy.
Mentor junior team members.
Perform independent and complex technical and functional analysis for multiple projects supporting several divisional initiatives.
Develop original and creative technical solutions for ongoing development efforts.
