About The Position

Kentro is hiring for a Remote Principal ServiceNow Platform Architect (CTA) to support the VA ESOM Contract. This position owns the technical vision for the VA ServiceNow platform, setting architectural standards, governing solution design, and serving as the authoritative technical voice on platform direction. The architect carries platform-level technical decisions on behalf of the client, providing architectural analysis and recommendations that determine how the platform evolves. This position can be performed remotely within the United States and will support Eastern Time working hours, with availability to travel for meetings.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required, in Computer Science, Systems Engineering, or a related field.
  • 12+ years progressive IT experience, including 8+ years hands-on ServiceNow architecture across multiple enterprise deployments and platform releases, with 5+ years in senior or principal technical leadership.
  • Expert command of the data model, security model (ACLs, roles, domains), scripting (server/client, Flow Designer), performance tuning, and instance and upgrade strategy, earned across many releases.
  • Architected and governed large ServiceNow environments with high user counts, multiple instances, extensive integrations, and multi-module footprints.
  • US Citizen or Green card holder
  • Willing and able to obtain and maintain Public Trust Clearance
  • Must meet updated ID requirements: https://www.gsa.gov/technology/it-contract-vehicles-and-purchasing-programs/federal-credentialing-services/get-appointment-help/bring-required-documents
  • If you do not currently meet the ID requirements outlined, you must be willing and able to update your current forms of ID in a timely manner to complete the suitability process successfully.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with a large federal agency or a comparable large-scale enterprise ServiceNow environment.
  • Track record consolidating fragmented legacy tooling onto ServiceNow.
  • TOGAF or SAFe implementation experience in a federal context.
  • Multiple Certified Implementation Specialist (CIS) certifications across ITSM, ITOM, and HAM/SAM

Responsibilities

  • End-to-end architecture of the VA ServiceNow environment and the To-Be platform roadmap across instances, applications, and integrations.
  • Design standards and platform guardrails across ITSM, ITOM (Discovery, Service Mapping, Event Management), CMDB/CSDM, and HAM/SAM, covering instance strategy, scoped app standards, upgrade and release management, and performance engineering.
  • Integration patterns and standards for IntegrationHub, REST/SOAP, MID Server, and ETL.
  • Last escalation point across all VA ServiceNow workstreams, hands-on enough to work directly in scripts, ACLs, business rules, and instance configuration.
  • Coaching architects, technical leads, and developers across delivery pods, and oversight of SDLC, CI/CD, cloning strategy, and upgrade cadence.
  • Analysis of alternatives between out-of-box capability, configuration, and custom development, balancing maintainability with mission requirements, and explaining those trade-offs clearly to VA technical staff.
  • Technical volume development with Capture teams on major ServiceNow proposals.
  • Recognized as the technical authority for the VA ServiceNow platform, with architectural decisions consistently routed through this role before solution paths are committed.
  • A documented and governed platform architecture, with design standards applied consistently across all workstreams and instances.
  • Technical issues resolved at the architecture level rather than escalated to client leadership.
  • Reduced technical debt and custom development, through consistent trade-off analysis and enforcement of platform standards.
  • Delivery teams operating against clear architectural standards, with fewer rework cycles caused by design ambiguity.
