Principal Scientist, Translational Genomics and Proteomics Center

GenentechDaly City, CA
$143,200 - $266,000Onsite

About The Position

The Translational Genomics and Proteomics Center at Genentech Research and Early Development integrates innovative genomic, proteomic, and computational approaches to advance our understanding of human biology and disease. A position is available in the Ye Laboratory for a highly motivated and innovative Principal Scientist to lead research at the intersection of immunology and human genetics. The successful candidate will develop and apply genomic, proteomic, and reductionist approaches to uncover mechanisms of antigen processing and presentation in myeloid and lymphoid cells and the relevance of these pathways to infections, autoimmunity, and tumor immunity. This individual will leverage human genetics, functional genomics (e.g., CRISPR perturbations), protein masspec, and advanced in vitro and in vivo disease models to identify novel biological pathways and therapeutic opportunities. Lead an independent research program focused on understanding human antigen processing and presentation and the relevance of these mechanisms in immune-mediated diseases.

Requirements

  • PhD degree in Immunology, Genetics, Molecular Biology, Cell Biology, or a related discipline.
  • Significant postdoctoral and/or industry experience with a strong record of independent scientific achievement.
  • Deep expertise in immunology, including antigen processing and presentation, innate immunity, and/or myeloid cell biology.
  • Strong understanding of human genetics and experience applying genetic approaches to target discovery and biological mechanism elucidation.
  • Demonstrated experience with genomics technologies, including next-generation sequencing and large-scale genomic datasets.
  • Experience leveraging broad proteomic profiling and multi-omics approaches to understand disease biology.
  • Proven expertise with in vivo disease models and mechanistic studies.
  • Track record of scientific innovation demonstrated through impactful publications, patents, and/or major research contributions.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to lead complex multidisciplinary research efforts.
  • Demonstrated ability to independently drive scientific strategy and influence research direction.
