Principal Radar Systems Engineer
About The Position
The Surface Radars and Sensors (SR&S) Center within Systems Engineering and Test Capabilities (SE&TC) is seeking a Principal Radar Systems Engineer to lead radar architecture and requirements development activities. The role is onsite in Huntsville, Alabama, and focuses on defining, characterizing, developing, and documenting Missile Defense System (MDS) radar Modeling and Simulation (M&S) capabilities. The engineer will develop architectural framework updates, system-of-systems functional and performance requirements, detailed algorithm descriptions, test scenario definitions, and verification approaches. The role also involves requirements analysis and benchmarking to validate algorithm designs and ensure system-level performance aligns with operational requirements. An active, transferable U.S. government-issued Secret security clearance is required before the start date, and U.S. citizenship is required.
Requirements
- A STEM degree and a minimum of 8 years of prior relevant experience.
- Experience with radar systems or related systems engineering.
- Experience with radar signal processing, signal processing theory, and/or signal modeling.
- Experience with programming languages such as Matlab, Python, C/C++, and/or Java, and tools such as DOORS.
- Active and transferable U.S. government-issued security clearance required prior to the start date; active and existing clearance required on day one.
- U.S. citizenship, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for the required security clearance.

- Experience with radar system concepts, including detection, discrimination, tracking, and signal processing algorithms.
- Expertise in system-level requirements development, documentation, and maintenance.
- Experience designing system-level software architecture.
- Proficiency in developing and coding system models, algorithms, test vectors, and evaluation tools for radar requirements and performance analysis.
- Experience developing, documenting, and maintaining processes, methods, and tools.
- Demonstrated ability to develop technical solutions to complex issues.
- Experience working with Linux operating systems.
- Familiarity with Agile methodologies and tools such as JIRA and Confluence.
- Strong analytical, technical, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite.
- Excellent communication, technical writing, oral presentation, and interpersonal skills.
Responsibilities
