Imperative Care is seeking a Principal R&D Engineer, NPD to join their team in Campbell, California. This on-site, full-time role involves developing breakthroughs to revolutionize the future of stroke care. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, or related discipline and a minimum of 12+ years of related experience driving innovation in the development of flexible medical device instruments; or equivalent combination of education and work experience in related regulated industry.
  • Experience leading a technical cross-functional team through all phases of product development.
  • Ability to be self-directed with minimal direction and supervision and take initiative to discern from multiple priorities when guiding a technical project team toward efficient solutions and opportunities.
  • Ability to multi-task efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Entrepreneurial spirit.
  • Strong foundation in documentation and communications skills required.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the subject matter expert in the design, continuous improvement, and manufacturability of commercialized neurovascular, endovascular or vascular products/product line(s) and /or technical innovation of same.
  • Provide insights and leadership as an individual technical contributor to promote new ideas and innovation when establishing processes and methods/techniques that drive best practices and engineering principles to a broader technical team.
  • Mentor and develop other R&D engineers as an industry leader with formal reporting line to an engineering team when needed.
  • Lead assigned technical projects in the catheter engineering group to drive value improvement, line extensions, and commercial compliance with quality systems and global regulatory requirements.
  • Evaluate performance characteristics of new product designs and identify opportunities for new development or improvements based on customer feedback, technologies, and clinical needs.
  • Conceptualize and/or prototype new product designs, add-ons, or enhancements through research, technical discussions, and interaction with SAB and R&D team members.
  • Ensure products are designed to facilitate manufacturability addressing budget constraints, customer needs, and schedule requirements.
