Expedia Group•Seattle, WA
•$224,000 - $313,500

About The Position

Expedia Group is hiring a Principal Product Manager to set the vision, strategy, and roadmap for AI across the Brand Expedia experience. The role spans current AI tools, platform capabilities, Expedia’s presence in third-party AI products, and new experiences. Areas of focus include contextual AI, natural-language search, agentic experiences, multimodal inputs, and new apps. The product leader will determine where AI can best support travelers and how to measure its impact on travelers and the business. The role focuses on making trip planning easier by understanding travelers’ needs and addressing points of difficulty across inspiration, planning, booking, and the trip itself. The product manager will work across Brand Expedia and other portfolio brands to test ideas with different audiences and at different scales, then determine which experiences to scale, change, or stop. This position combines strategic product leadership with hands-on work. It involves partnering with product, design, engineering, science, marketing, brand, platform, and partnership teams; prototyping with large language models; shaping agent behavior; guiding responsible AI evaluation and deployment; making business and architecture decisions; and being accountable for the financial results of launched products. The role also contributes to the development of product craft and team culture by coaching product managers.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, business, or a related technical field with 12 or more years of relevant experience; or a master’s degree in one of these fields with 10 or more years of relevant experience. Equivalent related professional experience may be considered.
  • Experience leading product strategy and delivering consumer experiences used at scale, with accountability for measurable business outcomes.
  • Experience shipping products built on large language models or machine learning, including conversational or natural-language interfaces, agentic workflows, personalization, recommendations, or multimodal experiences.
  • Experience owning product vision, strategy, roadmaps, experimentation, and success metrics across a multi-experience or multi-domain product area.
  • Familiarity with AI-driven systems, tools, or workflows and applying AI/ML concepts to real-world products.
  • Ability to collaborate with engineering and science teams on model evaluation, monitoring, tuning, and responsible deployment.

Nice To Haves

  • Demonstrated ability to lead AI product strategy across a broad consumer ecosystem and connect experiences across applications, websites, brands, and third-party AI assistants.
  • Hands-on experience shaping agentic capabilities, skills, travel expertise, prompts, tool use, retrieval, memory, evaluation, latency, and cost tradeoffs with engineering and science partners.
  • Track record of building new products within a larger organization and using experimentation and data-driven decision-making to determine whether to scale, change, or stop initiatives.
  • Experience making architecture, technical-debt, and build-versus-buy-or-partner decisions that improve the speed, quality, and economics of AI product delivery.
  • Advanced use of AI tools and workflows to improve product development, and experience translating emerging large language model and multimodal capabilities into safe, useful, and measurable consumer experiences.

Responsibilities

  • Write the product vision and multi-year strategy for AI on Brand Expedia, grounded in traveler needs, competitors, and technology trends.
  • Align leaders across product, design, engineering, marketing, and brand around the product strategy.
  • Own and maintain the roadmap for AI-powered experiences across inspiration, planning, booking, and the trip itself.
  • Use traveler research, behavioral data, and firsthand trip-planning experience to identify problems and opportunities.
  • Prototype with large language models and work with engineers and designers to shape prompts and agent behavior.
  • Partner with engineering and science teams to define how models are evaluated, monitored, and tuned before and after launch, supporting accurate, helpful, and safe experiences.
  • Partner with engineering leaders and platform teams building agentic capabilities, skills, and travel expertise; define Brand Expedia’s needs, shape architecture and technical-debt priorities, and agree on delivery dates.
  • Work with partnership teams to shape Expedia’s presence in third-party AI assistants and tools.
  • Ensure AI experiences feel connected across Expedia apps, the website, and brands.
  • Own business cases, make build-versus-buy-or-partner decisions, and be accountable for launched products’ financial results.
  • Design and run experiments across Brand Expedia and portfolio brands, including new apps and experiences outside the existing website; decide whether to scale, change, or stop initiatives.
  • Define success measures, including usage, completed trips, multi-item bookings, and repeat travel.
  • Coach product managers on customer journeys, traveler personas, and clear writing, and help build an inclusive culture of continuous improvement.
  • Track new model capabilities and identify ideas worth testing.
