About The Position

Expedia Group is seeking a Principal Product Manager to set the vision, strategy, and roadmap for AI across the Brand Expedia experience. The role spans existing traveler-facing AI tools, capabilities developed by platform teams, Expedia’s presence in third-party AI products, and new experiences. Areas of focus include contextual AI, natural-language search, agentic experiences, multimodal inputs, and new apps. The product leader will identify where AI can help travelers, ensure it works responsibly, and measure results for travelers and the business. The role focuses on making trip planning easier by addressing travelers’ needs across inspiration, planning, booking, and the trip itself. It also includes experimenting across Expedia Group’s portfolio brands, such as Travelocity, Orbitz, and Flights.com, and deciding which ideas to scale, change, or stop. The Principal Product Manager will work across product, design, engineering, science, marketing, brand, and partnership teams; own the business case and financial outcomes of launches; and help raise AI product craft across the organization through coaching and team leadership.

Requirements

  • Experience leading product strategy and delivering consumer experiences used at scale, with accountability for measurable business outcomes.
  • Experience shipping products built on large language models or machine learning, including conversational or natural-language interfaces, agentic workflows, personalization, recommendations, or multimodal experiences.
  • Experience owning product vision, strategy, roadmaps, experimentation, and success metrics across a multi-experience or multi-domain product area.
  • Familiarity with AI-driven systems, tools, or workflows and applying AI/ML concepts to real-world products.
  • Ability to collaborate with engineering and science teams on model evaluation, monitoring, tuning, and responsible deployment.

Nice To Haves

  • Demonstrated ability to lead AI product strategy across a broad consumer ecosystem and connect experiences across applications, websites, brands, and third-party AI assistants.
  • Hands-on experience shaping agentic capabilities, skills, travel expertise, prompts, tool use, retrieval, memory, evaluation, latency, and cost tradeoffs with engineering and science partners.
  • Track record of building new products within a larger organization and using experimentation and data-driven decisions to determine whether initiatives should scale, change, or stop.
  • Experience making architecture, technical-debt, and build-versus-buy-or-partner decisions that improve the speed, quality, and economics of AI product delivery.
  • Advanced use of AI tools and workflows to improve product development, with experience translating emerging large language model and multimodal capabilities into safe, useful, and measurable consumer experiences.

  • Align leaders across product, design, engineering, marketing, and brand around the AI strategy.
  • Own and prioritize the roadmap for AI-powered experiences across inspiration, planning, booking, and the trip itself.
  • Use traveler research, behavioral data, and personal trip-planning experience to identify points of friction and inform product development.
  • Prototype with large language models, shape prompts and agent behavior with engineers and designers, and monitor new model capabilities for potential experiments.
  • Set standards for responsible AI, partnering with engineering and science teams to evaluate, monitor, and tune models before and after launch so experiences are accurate, helpful, and safe.
  • Partner with engineering leaders and platform teams developing agentic capabilities, skills, and travel expertise; define Brand Expedia’s needs, shape architecture and technical-debt priorities, and agree on delivery dates.
  • Work with partnership teams to shape Expedia’s presence in third-party AI assistants and tools.
  • Ensure AI experiences feel connected across Expedia’s apps, website, and brands.
  • Own the business case, make build-versus-buy-or-partner decisions, and take accountability for the financial results of launches.
  • Design and run experiments across Brand Expedia and portfolio brands, including new apps and experiences beyond the current site; decide whether initiatives should scale, change, or stop.
  • Define success measures, including usage, completed trips, multi-item bookings, and repeat travel.
